Marketing DIY:
|
Nobody is Going to Find you in the Phone Book Anymore - So Now What? There are still lots of options available:
There's no shortage of ways to get your name and message to potential customersBUT..... How do you decide where to spend your limited marketing dollars?
IS THIS YOU?You just aren't interested in working for somebody. Not in your blood. You'll even take a bit less income to stay independent. You've got some very cool skills that you know people need. In fact, your small business does ok most of the time. Sometimes it even does well. But, truth is, you don't know much about marketing. You ended up in this business because it was an extension of a hobby, or your Mom or Dad handed it down to you, or your friends said, "Lets start a business together," or something like that. But you haven't ever had a class in advertising, marketing, product development, sales, employee hiring or motivation, or even accounting 101. And you know you should be on the internet, but you are pretty much putting that off, because it is all completely foreign to you. You don't know how to develop a website, create a blog, start a Myspace, or get page one on Google through SEO (Search Engine Optimization). It is much easier to do the job. "If I do it well, word of mouth will keep me going." You'd hire a consultant, but they cost $1000's and $1000's. I might be able to help outI'm just like you. The associates in Randy Kirk and Associates means my 12 year old helps create the MySpace. Sure I have some other associates who do the stuff I can't do. I can't draw or do computer graphics, so I have associates who do that for me. I pay them pretty well, because they can do it about 10 times faster and better than I can. So why would I want to learn how to create a web site, when I know that isn't my special skill? My special skill is looking at a small business, having a conversation with the owner about what they want out of the business and out of life. Then I put on my analytic hat (my wife hates that part of me), and come up with totally customized, comprehensive strategies to get more folks to visit you. Once they come on by, I help you devise methods that will generate a larger ticket from each customer. Then we work together to find ways to get those folks to come back and bring their friends. It's not that hard. I just sold a manufacturing business that my partner and I built to $5m in sales. I'm so happy to be back to one employee. But along the way I've picked up a few tricks, and I'm willing to share them with you for way less than $1000's and $1000's. I can only handle 40 clients at a time, so please treat this idea with some urgency. The Bottom LineSo, to kind of wrap things up. You're still reading this for only one reason, I suspect. You know you need some help in this area. If only you knew who to trust. On this page are some ways for you to learn more about me than even my Mother knows. I have a blog for every occasion, so I'm a very open book. You may not even like my politics or religion, but if you google my name, you can quickly find out how I feel about all kinds of issues. You can also go to Amazon.com and search by my name and see a few books I've written on this subject. Two of them were published by Warner Business Books. One of them was featured on the cover of Inc Mag. I can send you personal references as well. So, I guess were down to the bottom line. I charge $500 a month. Did I say that? I meant $495. My Grandaughter can be heard in the background saying, "Silly Poppy." You get my out-of-the-box, guerilla marketing approach for 4 hours minimum per month for that fee. If the Yellow Pages were still worth anything, you'd be spending way more than that for an ad - 5 years ago you probably did. Hopefully, today you are not.
